Can GLP-1 medication cause hair loss?
Fast weight loss on any plan, including Wegovy or Zepbound, can trigger shedding a few months later. It is usually temporary. Dr. Munib checks protein, iron, vitamin D and B12 and adjusts the plan.
Is red light therapy safe?
It uses no UV light and has no downtime. People with light-triggered seizures, light-sensitizing medications or pregnancy should check with us first.
Do you offer Botox and fillers?
Cosmetic injectables, lasers and peels are offered at our sister practice, Spectrum Skin Clinic, with the same physician, Dr. Sabeen Munib.
What Is LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy is a skincare treatment that employs varying wavelengths of light, including red and blue, to target different skin concerns. The therapy is known for its ability to stimulate collagen production, reduce inflammation, and kill bacteria, without damaging the skin's surface.
How Does LED Light Therapy Work
The therapy works by emitting light wavelengths deep into the skin layers, where they exert different effects. Red light is used for its anti-aging benefits, as it helps stimulate collagen production and reduce inflammation, leading to smoother, firmer skin. Blue light targets the bacteria that cause acne, making it effective for treating and preventing breakouts.
What Are the Benefits of LED Light Therapy
Benefits include improved skin tone and texture, reduced signs of aging (such as fine lines and wrinkles), decreased acne, and lessened appearance of scars and dark spots. It's also used for soothing inflammation and promoting faster healing.
Is LED Light Therapy Safe
Yes, LED light therapy is considered safe for most people and does not contain UV rays, which can be harmful to the skin. It's suitable for all skin types and colors. However, individuals with certain conditions, such as photosensitivity, should consult a healthcare provider before beginning treatment.
How Long Does a LED Light Therapy Session Last
A typical session lasts between 10 to 30 minutes, depending on the device used and the area being treated. For best results, multiple sessions are often recommended, usually spread out over several weeks.
How Soon Can I Expect Results From LED Light Therapy
While some individuals may notice improvements immediately, most treatments require a series of sessions to achieve noticeable results. Improvements in skin condition and appearance can become more apparent after several weeks of consistent use.
Can LED Light Therapy Be Combined With Other Treatments
Yes, LED light therapy can be combined with other skin treatments, such as facials, microdermabrasion, or chemical peels, to enhance overall results. It's often used as a supplementary treatment to support the skin's healing process and maximize the benefits of other therapies.
Are There Any Side Effects of LED Light Therapy
LED light therapy is generally well-tolerated, with minimal side effects. Some individuals may experience slight redness or irritation immediately after treatment, but these symptoms typically subside quickly. It's important to use the therapy as directed to avoid potential side effects.
Who Should Avoid LED Light Therapy
While LED light therapy is safe for most people, those with active skin rashes, photosensitive epilepsy, or who are pregnant should consult a healthcare professional before starting treatment. Additionally, it's recommended to discuss any existing skin conditions or concerns with a dermatologist to ensure LED light therapy is suitable for you.
How Can I Start LED Light Therapy
To begin LED light therapy, consider consulting with a dermatologist or skincare professional who can recommend the appropriate type of light therapy for your skin concerns. Many spas, dermatology clinics, and even at-home devices offer LED light therapy treatments, making it accessible for those looking to improve their skin health
What is the difference between exosome therapy and Selphyl PRFM?
Selphyl PRFM uses a fibrin matrix scaffold around concentrated platelets from your own blood, releasing growth factors over an extended period — longer-lasting than standard PRP. Exosome therapy uses lab-derived stem cell vesicles with a higher concentration of growth factors and RNA signals. PRFM is excellent for mild-to-moderate hair loss; exosomes are preferred for moderate-to-advanced cases. Dr. Munib may recommend combining both for maximum results.
How many sessions do I need?
Most patients start with 3 to 4 treatments spaced 4 to 6 weeks apart. Exosome therapy may produce meaningful results in fewer sessions due to its higher growth factor concentration. After the initial series, maintenance every 6 to 12 months sustains density and prevents further thinning.
How soon will I see hair regrowth results?
Reduced shedding is usually the first change, often within weeks of the first treatment. New hair growth typically becomes visible at months 3 to 4, with the most significant improvement in density and thickness between months 5 and 9. Full results from the initial series are usually seen by 9 to 12 months.
Is exosome hair therapy safe?
Yes. Exosomes are biocompatible and do not trigger immune responses. The procedure involves only scalp injections — no incisions, no anesthesia, no systemic medication. Side effects are typically limited to mild redness or tenderness at injection sites, resolving within 24 to 48 hours.
Does hair restoration hurt?
Topical numbing cream is applied to the scalp before the procedure, making it well-tolerated by most patients. The injections are typically described as mild pressure or light pinching. Most patients are comfortable throughout the 45 to 60 minute appointment.
How much does hair restoration cost in Irvine?
Pricing depends on whether you receive exosome therapy, Selphyl PRFM, or a combination protocol, and the number of sessions required. Dr. Munib provides full transparent pricing at your consultation with no hidden fees. Package pricing is available for multi-session protocols. Hair restoration is typically not covered by insurance.
Is Ozempic face a side effect of the medication?
It is a result of losing weight, mainly facial fat. It can happen with any fast weight loss.
Are peptides the same as retinol?
No. Retinol speeds up skin cell turnover and can irritate. Peptides are gentler signals. Some people use both.
Can I use AnteAGE after a treatment?
Often, yes. Dr. Munib tells you when to start based on the treatment you had.
How often can I have a facial massage?
As often as you enjoy it, as long as your skin is calm and you have not had a recent injectable or resurfacing treatment.
Is facial massage offered at Spectrum Skin Clinic?
Facial massage is offered here at The Pur Health.
Is lymphatic drainage the same as a regular massage?
No. The pressure is lighter and slower, and it follows the direction lymph fluid drains.
Can I have it after a procedure?
It depends on the procedure and how recent it was. Tell us what you had done, and we plan around it.
